❤️ Why You’ll Love This Morning Tonic Recipe

If you have any of the symptoms below, it could be because of your cortisol levels:

  1. Exhausted (but you wake up in the middle of the night)
  2. Hair loss
  3. Stubborn belly fat
  4. Constipated
  5. Constantly bloated
  6. Stinky sweat

My cortisol-lowering morning tonic 🍵 can help! Its ingredients have been found to decrease stress levels. Plus, it tastes like a fall in a cup—it’s so good! I feel like our nervous systems need all the help they can get before the holiday craziness and heavy food season. Yes? Yes.

🍵 Morning Tonic Ingredients

  • 🚰 Warm water helps the ingredients dissolve better than cold water.
  • 🍋 Lemon Juice provides vitamin C.
  • 🍎 Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother: Also called ACV. I used Madhava organic apple cider vinegar.
  • 🫚 Ginger, cinnamon, and turmeric have all been found to reduce cortisol levels.
  • 🍯 Raw Honey sweetens the drink and balances the tartness. Local honey is best if you have it.

👩‍🍳 How to Make Morning Tonic

Combine all the ingredients in a mug and whisk. I like to use my mini frother wand, which does a fantastic job of quickly mixing it.

🗒 Variations

  • Optional Ingredients: I love the flavor of a pinch of fennel in my drink; plus, it helps with bloating. Black pepper is also good.
  • Ashwagandha is also optional but has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. It’s an evergreen shrub grown in Asia, Africa, and Europe. I buy mine from Mountain Rose Herbs.

🗒 Substitutions

  • 🍋 Citrus: Replace lemon with orange juice.
  • 🫚 Ginger: Grate fresh ginger into your mug instead of using dried.
  • 🍯 Sweetener: Swap honey with maple syrup.

👝 How to Store

I usually make this morning tonic right before consuming it. However, you could double or triple the recipe and refrigerate it in an airtight container for a couple of days. You could drink it cold or warm it on the stove or in the microwave.

🤔 Common Questions

What is the difference between apple cider vinegar and apple cider vinegar with mother?

🍎 Apple cider vinegar with mother is unfiltered vinegar, which is cloudier than regular ACV. The mother (AKA the cloudy stuff floating in the vinegar) is the “yeast and bacteria [left over] from the fermentation process.” Raw ACV has better flavor and natural probiotics than filtered vinegar.
