Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the information shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam.
A hashed version of your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether you use it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible publicly with your comment.
Comment forms may offer optional newsletter sign-up choices for Kit, formerly ConvertKit, or Flodesk. If you select one, your name and email address may be sent to the provider named beside that choice.
Forms, email subscriptions, and anti-spam
We use WPForms to display and process forms on this website. Depending on the form, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, location, portfolio links, experience, skills, rates, availability, and other information you choose to provide.
The main newsletter form sends the submitted name and email address to Kit, formerly ConvertKit, for email-list management and delivery. The recipe-save form uses the submitted email address to send the requested recipe. If the form states that it includes weekly emails, the submitted address may also be used for that subscription. The Join the Team form sends the submitted information to our team so we can evaluate potential contractor opportunities.
WPForms stores form entries in this website’s WordPress database. Form submissions may also be sent by email or to the service identified on the form. These entries may remain stored until they are manually deleted.
We use CleanTalk to protect registration, comment, contact, and custom forms from spam and abuse. CleanTalk may process information entered into a form or comment, along with technical information such as IP address, browser user-agent, page URL, and anti-spam or behavioral signals.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who we share your data with
We share information only as needed to operate, secure, analyze, and market the website. Depending on how you use the site, recipients may include our hosting and technical service providers, WPForms, Kit, CleanTalk, Google Analytics, Meta, Microsoft Clarity, Mediavine, and the advertising partners described below. If you click a retailer or other external link, the destination site receives the information your browser normally sends when opening that link and applies its own privacy policy.
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
WPForms entries are stored in the website’s WordPress database and may remain there until they are manually deleted. Email providers, analytics services, advertising platforms, anti-spam services, and other vendors apply their own retention periods.
For website analytics and conversion journeys stored by Conversion Bridge, unconverted pageviews are retained for 30 days. Sessions containing UTM campaign information are retained for 365 days. Tracked events are retained for 365 days. These local limits do not control the separate retention practices of Google Analytics, Meta, Microsoft, Mediavine, or other providers.
For users who register on the website, if any, we store the personal information in their user profile. Registered users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time except their username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain uses. To make a privacy request, email [email protected] or use our Contact page. We may request information reasonably needed to verify your identity. We may retain information when required for administrative, legal, security, or other permitted purposes.
Where your data is sent
Website and form data may be processed in countries other than your own by the service providers named in this policy. Comments and forms are checked by CleanTalk for spam and abuse. Newsletter information may be sent to Kit, and analytics and advertising data may be sent to Google, Meta, Microsoft Clarity, Mediavine, and the partners described below.
Analytics and conversion measurement
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand website traffic and how visitors use the site. Google may receive information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device information, referral information, and cookie or device identifiers, subject to the consent choices available for your region. Google explains how it processes information from partner sites at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We also use Conversion Bridge, a WordPress analytics and conversion-measurement tool. Conversion Bridge stores pageviews, sessions, campaign parameters, and configured conversion events in this website’s WordPress database. On The Cleaning Reset sales page, it records clicks on retailer purchase links as conversion events. A recorded click shows that the link was selected. It does not confirm that a purchase was completed.
Our Mediavine consent-management platform provides regional privacy choices for Mediavine advertising and supplies Google Consent Mode signals to Google Analytics. Those controls are not currently connected to Conversion Bridge, Meta Pixel, or Microsoft Clarity. You can also limit cookies and tracking through your browser or device settings.
Meta Pixel
We use the Meta Pixel, provided by Meta Platforms, Inc., to measure how visitors use our website and respond to our advertising. When the Pixel is active, Meta may receive information about pages you view, links or buttons you click, your browser and device, your IP address, and identifiers stored in cookies. On The Cleaning Reset sales page, we use it to record when a visitor clicks a retailer purchase link.
We use this information to measure advertising performance, understand conversions, and improve advertising on Meta services, including Facebook and Instagram. Meta processes this information under the Meta Privacy Policy. You can manage how Meta uses activity information from ad partners through your Meta ad preferences, and you can limit tracking through your browser or device settings.
Microsoft Clarity
We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products/services. Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products/services and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud/security purposes, and advertising. Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting.
