🍵 Happy Tummy Tea Ingredients
- Water keeps you hydrated and is the base of this herbal tea recipe.
- Lemon Juice for bright citrus flavor. It contains vitamin C and essential electrolytes, such as potassium, calcium, sodium, and magnesium.
- Ginger: Chopped fresh ginger’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds improve digestion. Plus, it imparts a warm, spiced flavor as it simmers.
- Honey or Maple Syrup provides sweetness. My go-to is manuka or raw honey, but any kind will work.
- Cayenne Pepper contains the compound capsaicin, which stimulates the digestive tract.
- Cinnamon also helps with bloating, and it enhances the tea’s flavor.
- Turmeric has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that aid digestion.
- Tea: Green or chamomile tea bags are best for soothing stomach pains.

🤔 Common Questions
Yes, herbal tea, including chamomile, is caffeine-free. However, green tea does have caffeine, so if you’re drinking this tummy tea at night after dinner, opt for chamomile.
There are two types of cinnamon: Ceylon and cassia. Cassia is more commonly found in grocery stores and has a bolder flavor than Ceylon. It also contains more coumarin, a compound that can be toxic in high doses.
