Makeup Brush Cleaner

Cleaning makeup brushes is essential for maintaining both skin health and brush performance. Regular cleaning removes accumulated makeup, oils, and bacteria, preventing skin irritation, breakouts, and infections. It also ensures that brushes apply makeup smoothly and accurately, extending their lifespan and maintaining their effectiveness. By incorporating brush cleaning into your routine, you promote better hygiene and achieve more consistent, professional-looking makeup results.
Prep: 2 minutes
Cook: 5 minutes
Total: 7 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon mild liquid soap, preferably castile soap or non tox baby shampoo
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar

Instructions

  • Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the warm water, mild liquid soap, and white vinegar. Stir gently to mix.
  • Soak Brushes: Dip the bristles of your makeup brushes into the solution. Avoid submerging the handle to prevent water from loosening the glue.
  • Swirl and Clean: Gently swirl each brush in the solution, working the cleanser through the bristles to remove makeup residue and bacteria.
  • Rinse: Rinse the brushes thoroughly under lukewarm running water until the water runs clear. Be careful to keep the handle and ferrule dry.
  • Dry: Gently squeeze out excess water with a clean towel. Reshape the bristles and lay the brushes flat on a towel, with the bristles hanging off the edge of a counter, to air dry completely.
