Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 10 minutes
Total: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white vinegar, I prefer an organic brand
  • 1 cup baking soda

Instructions

  • Empty the Dishwasher: Make sure there are no dishes or utensils inside the dishwasher.

Vinegar Rinse (Optional but Effective):

  • Pour 1 cup of white vinegar into a dishwasher-safe bowl or measuring cup.
  • Place the bowl or cup on the top rack of the dishwasher.
  • Run a hot water cycle. This helps to break down grease and grime, and the vinegar will also help to deodorize.

Add Baking Soda:

  • After the vinegar cycle is complete, sprinkle 1 cup of baking soda on the bottom of the dishwasher.

Run a Short, Hot Cycle:

  • Run a short, hot water cycle. The baking soda will help scrub and deodorize the interior.

Inspect and Wipe Down:

  • Once the cycle is complete, open the dishwasher and inspect the interior.
  • Wipe down the sides and door seals with a damp cloth to remove any remaining residues.
